Remember: Call before you dig!

It is very important that you call your area utility locator before you start digging for whatever construction work you're going to do around your property.  The general rule is to call at least 48 hours before your scheduled dig.

The locating companies will come out and mark your property with the location of underground cables and pipes.  To my knowledge, there is no charge for this service anywhere.

Click on this link to get locating information - http://www.mail-house.com/utility.htm

At that URL, you will find a chart of the numbers to call for locations throughout the nation.  I don't know how often this site is updated, but, if your area is not listed yet, call your local phone company Repair Service and they will be able to give you the information you need to arrange for a locate.

This is the only website I could find that had a national listing of numbers to call for locating.  As can be seen, this is a website for the placing of mail boxes.  But, I'll take the information from wherever I can get it.  If anyone has a better site, please pass the information along to me so I can post it on this site.  Thanks much.  ~Bill
